Fairy dreams

Hello there, today I thought I'd play around with the distress papers and Sheena Douglas stamps which came free with Quick Cards made easy as I really liked the look of them.

I printed out the blue and green one cut it down to 7.5 inches and then stamped around and off the edges in black ink and matted and layered it on to black card, then on to a white 8 x 8 card blank. I then used a Tonic Fae Trellis die to cut it from black card, and glued it to the middle of the card. Using a Tattered Lace alphabet die set  I die cut "dream" from black card and stuck the letters randomly in the centre, and decoupaged the extra die cut butterfly on top of the one in the die cut.

I'm entering this card into the My Time to Craft Challenge: Silhouettes.

For the second card I made I just used the distress papers, the purple and orange one this time, and the stamps. Again I stamped around and off the edges in black ink, matted and layered the paper on to black card, and then on to a white 8 x 8 card blank. I also stamped a couple of butterflies and a dragon fly. I stamped a sentiment and used Spellbinders Labels 34 to cut the image and a black card mount. I attached the sentiment to the front of the card using foam pads.

Thanks for stopping by, any comments you'd like to make would be gratefully received.

If music be the food of love ...

I needed to make an 18th birthday card for the daughter of close friends and as she is very into music - and was getting a guitar for her birthday - I decided to make that the theme.

I got some guitar printed paper which I cut into a square and matted and layered it onto silver then red card cut using the Tonic Layering dies. I stamped some treble clefs randomly onto white card then matted it onto red card and then silver mirror board. I wrapped black musical printed ribbon around two of the corners and fixed it to an 8 x 8 black card blank. I cut a circle of red and a circle of silver using the Spellbinders scalloped circles dies and put a silver sentiment into the middle of the topper which I then fixed to the middle of the card using foam pads.

She was delighted with the card and I can now safely put it on my blog! I hope you like this one and those below - why not leave me a comment and let me know.

I'm entering this card into the Die Cuttin Divas Challenge: Music in our schools.

As it was 12 x 12 I managed to get 4 cards out of it altogether, a similar colour scheme and Spellbinders die - always useful to have a few in hand! The stamps used were free with an issue of Creative stamping a couple of years ago, and the sentiments all by Craftwork Cards.

Dotty birthday card

Hello there, this is my first entry into challenges so it's fingers crossed that I get it right :-) !

I started with a 7x7 black card blank folded tent style, on to that I matted and layered white card, then black and white polka dot card. I took a piece of square red card and matted and layered that onto black card before embossing it using the Tattered Lace Ditzy Dots embossing folder. I'd found and a few dotty tag toppers in my black and white stash so attached a big and small one with a black brad and stuck that on to the the red square, I decided to put the topper on in a diamond shape as the size of the topper matched a row of dots - more by luck than judgement - using foam pads. I then used a Tattered Lace die to cut  a double layered flower from the red and black card, secured it with a red brad and attached it to the bottom right corner. I finished the whole thing off with a black and white dotted bow using some ribbon I bought ages ago.

I think this will go to my niece for her birthday, hope she doesn't see it here first and spoil the surprise!

I'm entering it into the following challenges:

Clear it out challenge: Theme: birthday and Stash: Polka Dots
Just US Girls challenge: black, white and ... another colour

Birthday cards for friends

Hi there, March is a busy month for me from a card making point of view as I have several birthdays, plus there's Mother's Day and often Easter too. Here are a couple of birthday cards I made for friends this month.

For this one I used Tattered Lace dies and cut the Tattered Lace Floral panel 3 times cut in pearlescent cream card and fixed it to orange card, then matted and layered cream and orange card. I die cut a poppy in cream and orange and also two flowers from a floral die set cut in cream and orange,  not sure which set though as it was a gift from a friend. I secured the petal layers with a copper brad, cut best wishes in orange, and layered it all on to a 17x18 cm cream card blank. I got the idea for this from the issue 8 of the Tattered Lace magazine as the die came free with the magazine.

The other card was made using the Spellbinders Cut, fold and tuck Whirlabout die and I cut the small and medium dies from pale lilac double sided card which I layered onto purple mirror board. In the centre of the two small ones I attached purple Craftwork Cards Candi and in the middle of the large one a Craftwork Cards sentiment. I also cut a bow using the Tonic Lacy Bows die set from the lilac card. I used an A5 white pearlescent card blank and layered purple pearlescent card which had been embossed using the Tattered Lace Ditzy dots embossing folder onto purple mirror board. The die cuts and bow were then fixed to the card front.

I hope you like them, thanks for stopping by and if you've any comments as usual they're always welcome.

Stamping and colouring

Hi there, this is a card I made for my father-in-law's birthday - men are hard to make for so I was at a bit of a loss what to do but my crafty friend came up with this as an idea. It's an 8x8 cream card blank scored and folded down the middle. I used a Kanban Crafts stamped image overlapping the inside of the card, layered onto an autumn leaves paper from a Debbi Moore CD and then a layer of copper mirror card. I used a Card-io Majestix stamp to add a border of little leaves  around the edge. Inside I matted a print of the autumn leaves onto copper mirror card and fixed 3 gold skeleton leaves in the centre. Quite pleased with it in the end, hope you like it too.

Valentine's card

I thought I'd show how different the Tonic Studios Affections dies can look by posting a Valentine's Day card I made using different colours and a different centre to the Mother's Day card I posted which used the same die set.

I used an 8x8 black card blank with red, white and black contrasting card which were matted and layered. I rounded the corners of the mats to match the rounded corners of the dies. The large white matt card was embossed and then I just added 3 black pearls in two of the corners.

Mother's day cards

A couple of Mother's Day cards, very different, one used the Tonic Studios Affections die set and the other was from a Hunkydory kit.

This is on an 8 x 8 card blank and I used a combination of cream and antique gold pearl card cut and layered up, finished off with gold pearls and a bow made with ribbon from a box of chocolates which matched perfectly! The chocolates were good too :-)

The Hunkydory kit is Floral Enchantment and is mainly flowers but has a sheet of 4 bird toppers in it too. Again it's an 8 x 8 card blank but folded back down the centre of the front and then backing paper fixed to the front and the inside. I layered the topper onto pink then lilac card, put some Glamour Dust into the centres of the flowers, stamped a sentiment and coloured in shades of lilac then finished it off with a lilac ribbon bow.

Thanks for stopping by, hope you like them, as always any comments welcome.

Easter cards

I make a few Easter cards every year, some more religious than others.

The first one is for my Mum and doesn't need to be very religious so I decided to use A Hunkydory kit Pretty Petals which has lilies in it, I decoupaged them using glue gel and used the matching backing card matted and layered onto gold mirri then on to an 8x8 cream card blank. I added cream ribbon and bow and created my own Easter blessings sentiment using the Spellbinder Petite Labels 1 die.

For the second card I used what was left of the backing card and layered that with gold miri onto a DL card, attached a wooden cross I had in my stash which I'd put gold gilding wax onto and added the same sentiment as above.

I made the next card with a Spellbinders M-Bossabilities folder using the cross design side and white pearl card, I dusted it with gold ink and then highlighted the individual crosses with gilding wax. Again layered it onto gold mirri and used the same sentiment.

The last card was made with the same folder embossing white pearl card but using the other side of the folder. I coloured the lilies with yellow and green Promarkers, layered it on to yellow and green card, and added a stamped sentiment.

Cards made for Certificate in Papercraft

I'm studying for the Certificate in Paper Craft, here are the cards I made for my first Unit. I was surprised and very pleased when I got a credit for the unit!

This was made using Tonic Sentiment Die Set Happy Birthday cut from white and pink cardf stock, and a Crafter's Companion Paintbox Poppets image on a white 6x6 card blank. I used Tonic Layering dies to cut the mats for the image and finished it off with a gingham bow.

For the next one I used Docrafts Papermania Capsule Collection in Parisienne Blue, matted and layered with dark blue card on a white 8x8 card blank. The flower and leaves are from Tattered Lace dies, the butterfly is from a Tonic punch and topper/sentiment are also both Tonic. I finished it off with a blue pearl in two of the corners.

The last one used Tattered Lace products, the Ditzy dots embossing folder embossed onto white pearlescent card, Flourishing hearts die, Poppy and Cherished Circles die, and finished off with a Craftwork Cards sentiment. Again on an 8x8 white card blank and using red, black and white card stock.

Thanks for stopping by, I do hope you like them!

Hello there!

Hi everyone, I'm a blogging newbie and this is my first post. I want to join in with all the crafters out there by getting involved in challenges, sharing what I create and learning from all the experts out there. I thought I'd start by posting a few of the cards I've made  recently and which I think are my better efforts :-)
