Butterfly tied Z-fold card

Hello,
this is the last of the three cards I made for one of the units in the Certificate in Paper Craft I'm studying. It was inspired by a feature in Quick Cards Made Easy magazine - and has even been featured in the letters page of issue 139!

I used a white 8 x 8 card blank scored down the middle and folded back. I matted the folded back front and the inside with silver mirri then cut some some lilac card with a subtle lilac floral pattern on it from a Kanban kit to matt on to the silver. The focal point on the front is an Imagination Crafts butterfly stamped in purple onto white, matted onto Hobbycraft periwinkle pearlescent card, then onto silver and finally onto white. Inside I stamped the same image in pale lilac and added a Tonic Birthday Wishes die cut sentiment on it, plus a Craftwork Cards sentiment in the bottom corner. I even found some lilac organza ribbon with butterflies embossed on it to tie the card to finish it off.

I'd not made anything like this before so was really pleased with the result, I hope you like it too.

Thanks for stopping by, as always any comments you might like to leave are gratefully received,

Apricot flowers

Hello,

this is the second of the three cards I made for my second Unit of the Certificate in Paper Craft.

I used a Kanban kit I've had for ages called Apricot Dreams. I started with an 8 x 8 pale gold card blank which I matted and layered with apricot floral backing card on gold mirri. I created a panel from floral patterned vellum fixed to the pale gold card with gold brads which I placed towards the left side of the card. I created 3 quilled apricot flowers, first time I'd done this and I was quite pleased with the result, and attached them to the bottom right with some Tattered Lace die cut flourishes. Top right I attached a Tonic Happy Birthday sentiment with a gold brad in the middle of the flower.

Because of the quilled flowers I needed a box for this card too and created it from the pale gold card and the same kit but used the left over backing card from the card as the panel, and card which matched the vellum as the main backing card. I finished it with a Hunkydory sentiment which matched the colours.

60th birthday card

Hello,

I'm currently studying for the Certificate in Paper Craft and have just passed Unit 3 - with Credit! Soooo pleased :-) I am going to post the three cards I made for this Unit and this is the first one.

It's a 60th birthday card made for a friend I've known since junior school, but she's a year younger than me. I found the ribbon and used that as a starting point - plus she supports Liverpool so I wanted to include red in the card. I matted some rose embossed card on to gold paper and then matted this on to an 8 x 8 white card blank. I cut the Tonic Happy Birthday Pansy Topper die set from red card and inserted a topper into it, then created flowers from the Bellus Buttercup in red and the Delicate Daisy flower in gold with gold Craftwork Cards Card Candi in the middle of the flowers. I cut gold Fanciful Flourishes to go with the flowers and put gold Card Candi in the corners then added the bow to finish it off.

As there was depth to the card and it had to go through the post I also made a box for the card. I used the same rose embossed card matted onto gold paper, a red and gold flower and gold Card Candi. The sentiment is also Tonic from the Topper die set with a Tonic butterfly to finish it off. I'm pleased to say that my friend was delighted with the card.

Thinking of you sympathy card

Hello,

I needed to make a sympathy card in a hurry, so the Tonic Thinking of You Sentiment Die Set was ideal. I cut the dies from black and white card, then layered them up on a black card base to create a simple sympathy card quickly.

Fairy and flowers

Hello there,
this is a card which is out of my comfort zone as I usually do "less is more" type of cards and this one has quite a bit going on. I'd got some Lili of the Valley papers free with Quick Cards Made Easy which I liked but didn't really know what to do with. So I looked around and found a sketch and a couple of challenges which I thought I'd have a go at and this is the end result. I used a Kraft card base and some pink and green card which matched the papers. I used the Tonic Fae Trellis die and cut the fairy out and matted it onto green card then Kraft card, punched some small flowers, die cut a sentiment, added pearls here and there, a couple of small butterflies and some faux stitching.

I'm quite pleased with the end result so will perhaps play around with patterns more. What do you think?

I'm entering this into the following challenges:
Fan-Tastic Tuesday: ATG with pearls
4 Crafty Chicks: Fairies

Sunny birthday card

Hello there.

I wanted to make a bright sunny birthday card for a friend that would be easy to post and this is what I came up with.

I used the Tonic Happy Birthday Sentiment die set, it's really flexible as you can layer it up with foam pads or keep it fairly flat by just using glue which is good for posting. I did the latter with this one and started with a 14 cm x 14 cm cream card blank. I cut the large and small layers from yellow card, and the middle one from cream card and just layered them up together. I popped a pale yellow flower in the middle and job done!

Wedding card

Hello there, thanks for visiting.

This is a wedding day card I've made. I used the Tonic Affections die set cut from blue and white pearlescent card layered with foam pads. I embossed white pearlescent card with the Amelia embossing board and dusted it with silver ink. Then cut flowers from blue card and mirri using the Plush Peony die set and added a silver Fanciful Flourish. All was matted and layered on to silver and blue mats, then on to an 8 x 8 card blank.

Black and white butterflies and birds

Hello there, for this card I used a Kanban topper I've had lying around for ages, created a mat from silver mirri and white card embossed with a Cuttlebug All in One folder. I put it on an 8 x 8 card, added black and white die cut butterflies and finished it off with a bow and some silver gems on the butterflies. I'm quite pleased with how it's come out and hope it's not too stark!

Let's have a whirl!

Been a few days since I had time to craft and blog - catching up with boring chores and also away for Easter - hope you had a good one!

I decided to make a card using my Spellbinders Whirlabout die which I've only used a couple of times so far and to follow a challenge sketch to get me back in the crafty zone again. I used a double sided lilac card, layered it onto lilac mirror card and put some Craftwork Cards Card Candi in the middle. I matted and layered purple dotty embossed card onto lilac mirror card, then on to a white 8 x 6 card blank. I cut 3 strips of the lilac card, used a Tattered Lace die for the sentiment which I stuck onto a matt created from a Spellbinders Layering die set.

I'm entering this for the following challenges:

Die Cuttin Diva's Sketch Challenge
4 Crafty Chicks: Die cuts
Pile it on: Die cuts and/or punches
Fan-Tastic Tuesday: use a die or punch
