Happy Halloween

Hello there,
time for another Fairy and Unicorn Challenge, this month being October I went with the theme of Halloween with witches, spells and ghosts! The challenge theme as always is anything goes so long as it's fantasy.

What I used

White A5 Landscape card
CraftArtist2 with the Spooktacular digikit for backgrounds and embellishing
Oddball Art Book of Spells image for the main topper
Black ribbon bow

I designed the overall card, then split it into 3 layers, printed them separately and layered them up with foam pads to give some dimension.

I made an insert from the middle layer of the card and some of the same embellishments. The verse is from the Craftsuprint website, which has a very good selection of cards you can buy and make, plus verses to use in them.

I hope you like the card, please leave a comment if you've got time. Why not also check out the Fairy and Unicorn Challenge and join us there this month.

Unicorn in the clouds

Hello,
it's been a long time between posts again as I've been dealing with quite a few family issues. Fortunately I've managed to make my design team card for the Fairy and Unicorn challenge for September. The challenge is returning to its original status as a Fantasy challenge, and theme this month is anything goes but it must be a fantasy creation. I decided to use a new die I bought at a recent craft show for it, which is the Joy Crafts Magic Unicorn die.

What I used

White A4 landscape stepper card
White stamping card
Limetree Crafts Peacock Blue card
Pale blue cloud patterned paper which was free with a magazine
Joy Crafts Magic Unicorn die
Sue Wilson Double Pierced Circles dies
Tonic plain circle die
Spectrum Noir markers: IG1, IG2 and IG3; TB1, TB3 and TB5
Blue ribbon and blue and white pearls from my stash

I hope you like my card, please come and join us at the Fairy and Unicorn Challenge this month.

Under the sea

Hello,
this is my card for the July Fairy and Unicorn Challenge, the theme as usual is anything goes with the optional theme of under the sea. There's no sponsor this month so I thought I'd have a play again with my Craft Artist 2 as I knew I had a digikit with a mermaid in it.

What I used

Craft Artist Fantasy collection 1 and Myth and Legends to create the background and the mermaid topper
8 x 8 white card blank
Rainbow miri card for a mat
White card for a mat
Spectrum Noir sparkle pen to add a bit of sparkle to the mermaid's tail
Papermania ink to edge the card and stamping the sentiment which is a magazine freebie
Spellbinders die to cut the sentiment out
Blue American Crafts sparkly brads which looked a bit like the colour of the sea
White net ribbon

Special birthday cards

Hello,
here are three birthday cards and boxes made for friends' birthdays, including a 60th and a 70th.

They follow a similar theme using a Crafter's Companion rose embossing folder, highlighted with gilding wax, vellum, flowers and die cuts: Sizzix/Tim Holtz leaves, Sue Wilson sentiment and Tonic butterflies, names and ages.

The recipients were delighted with the cards and boxes, so I'll probably use a similar design for future special occasions.

Thanks for stopping by, please leave a comment if you've time.

Car theme birthday cards

Hello there,
here are a couple of birthday cards made for some male friends - who as we all know are often difficult to make for. Both are interested in cars so I chose that as the theme.

Both cards were made using stamps from Creative Stamping magazine, I just changed the colours I used and tweaked the design a bit. I used to be a bit worried about stamping as the image didn't come out very well - that was until I discovered stamping platforms! I bought the Misti at a show having had a play with it there, however as I quite often make larger cards I wanted one with a larger base so I bought the Tonic/Time Holtz one. Then a won a set of We R Memory Keepers tools in a competition which included their stamping platform, so now I'm really spoiled for choice, and my stamping skills have improved enormously with using them.

Unfortunately I got the age wrong on the 65 one - but as he was older than that I think he was quite flattered so I got away with it!

I hope you like the two variations of this card, please leave me a comment if you've time as I do really appreciate it.

Easter bunny

Hello there,
Here's my April card for the Fairy and Unicorn Challenge, as usual it's anything goes with the option of Easter bunny. This month we're sponsored by Fabrika Fantasy, I've used the Cute Toy 1 stamp as theme is Easter bunny. It's a very simple card as I was pushed for time and having messed up my colouring attempt I've used the pre-coloured version.

What I've used

White A5 landscape card Mont Blanc from Anna Marie Designs
Lilac card from Lime Tree Crafts for the mats
Anna Marie Designs super smooth printing card for the image
Background papers from Cardmaking & Papercraft Issue 194
Lilac gingham ribbon and pearls from my stash

I hope you like the card and will leave a comment if you have time.

Please also join us this month at the Fairy and Unicorn Challenge, sponsored by Fabrika Fantasy.

The Queen of hearts

Hello there,
This  is my March card for the Fairy and Unicorn Challenge, the theme this month is anything goes with the option of Alice in Wonderland. I'd nothing in my stash I could turn into Alice so thought outside the box a bit and have come up with this.

What I've used

8x8 Anna Marie Designs white card blank
Red card and black card for the matting and layering, white for stamping on
Black card for the "Drink me" bottle
Tonic dies for the perfume bottle and frame, and the tag
Pebeo silver gilding wax to highlight the embossing on the bottle - doesn't really show in the picture which is a shame.
Card stamp free gift with Creative Stamping magazine
Poppy Promarker to spot colour the hearts
Barn Door Distress ink used to brush the edges of the
Queen of Hearts cards from a mini card set free with a Christmas cracker

The ribbon was a last minute addition as I stabbed my finger with a poky tool when inserting the brad! So the ribbon was to cover the blood smudge, I also had to redo the tag as I'd bled over that too. Still all ok in the end.

I hope you like my card, please leave a comment if you've time, and please do come over and join us at the Fairy and Unicorn Challenge this month

Love is in the air

Hello,
Valentine's Day this month so love is definitely in the air.

Here's my card for the Fairy and Unicorn Challenge for February where the theme is a bit of loving. This month we're very kindly sponsored by the fabulous Ike's Art, and my card is made using the Athena image. As you may know Athena is the Greek goddess of Wisdom, Handicrafts and War  - so unfortunately not of love!

I've tried something I've not done before and made it 2 tone using cream and red - the colour of love - and just spot coloured the image using red.

What I've used

8x8 cream card blank
Lime Tree Berry Red card,
Lime Tree Ivory Cream card
Promarker's Poppy Red for the spot colour
Sizzix hearts die for the small hearts and border
Tonic Will's Hand Love die

I hope you like the card, please leave a comment if you've time.

Also please do join us this month at the Fairy and Unicorn Challenge, and thanks again to Ike's Art for sponsoring us this month.
